Balsamic Mushrooms on Toast
INGREDIENTS:
1 pack mushrooms (variety packs work well)
3 spoonfuls balsamic vinegar
1 spoonful olive oil
1 clove garlic
1/2 spoonful salt
2 slices bread
DIRECTIONS:
1) Heat the olive oil in a pan on the stove. Add the mushrooms, balsamic, and salt. Mix it all together and let it cook down on medium heat.
2) When the mushrooms start to shrink and the balsamic thickens, mince the garlic and add it to the pan. Mix everything again and turn the heat down to low.
3) Toast 2 (or more) slices of thick-cut bread while the mushrooms continue to cook. After about 8 minutes the mushrooms should be soft and cook through. Remove from the pan and place on top of the toasts.
SUBSTITUTION IDEAS:
Balsamic Vinegar —> Red or white wine vinegar and a little bit of honey
