Sweet & Sticky Tofu

INGREDIENTS:

1 package firm tofu

4 spoonfuls cornstarch

2 spoonfuls soy sauce

1 spoonful sesame oil

1 spoonful nut butter

1 spoonful honey

1/2 spoonful sriracha

1 splash olive oil

DIRECTIONS:

1) Open and drain the tofu package. Cut the tofu into small cubes and toss it in a bowl with the cornstarch.

2) Put the cornstarch coated tofu in a pan with some olive oil on medium heat. Don’t touch the tofu. Let it get crispy and brown on one side. Repeat with the remaining tofu.

3) When the tofu is done, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, nut butter, honey, sriracha and a little bit of the leftover cornstarch. Put the sauce in a pan on the stove and heat it through, then toss with the tofu.

 

SUBSTITUTION IDEAS:

Tofu —> Chicken (forget the cornstarch and just cook it normally and toss in the sauce)

Cornstarch —> Flour, arrowroot powder

Soy Sauce —> Liquid aminos

Honey —> Maple syrup, agave

Optional - 1/2 spoonful mustard in the sauce
